I’ve never been a big Star Wars person not because I have anything against the saga I’ve just never sat down long enough to get in to the movie. I know I may get a lot of raised eyebrows from these too- I have never watched Harry Potter or Forrest Gump either. That tends to strike people as an offense hahaha. I plan to…. one day. New bucket list items? I found the picture above of course on Pinterest aaanddd I love it. I think its funny and it reminds me that Jesus has a sense of humor as well. We tend to focus on the serious part of Jesus and forget that He was once man.
“We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin” Hebrews 4:15.
This scripture reminds us that Jesus was at one time human just like us. With that being true, God gave us the gift of humor and if He did that with us He surely did with Jesus too. Jesus experienced the very same things we do apart from one— sin. It only makes sense that along with pain and suffering that He also endured happiness and laughter. He isn’t someone that is completely un relatable. Growing up God, Jesus and Holy Spirit seemed like figures who were far off in the distance. I knew of them and I loved them. Though it was almost as if they were out of reach. Kind of like the saying “Look but never touch.” I didn’t completely grasp the concept of having an intimate one on one relationship or better yet having them near me. For me I think maturity has played a big factor. As I’ve grown up I understand more of who they actually are for me and to me. I am still learning don’t get me wrong. I don’t believe I’ll ever know enough. There are so many layers to the Father that it is impossible to have the whole idea. I love that concept. He keeps us on our toes, constantly revealing more of Him, and constantly pulling us in for more. Like I said earlier, Jesus isn’t an un relatable guy. Of course He never sinned, but He also dealt with life in ways like we do. He was human. Understanding that has opened my eyes and allowed me to feel closer to Him. We get told by our parents, mentors, leaders, etc. “I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I made.” I find that to be true with Jesus as well. Not that He necessarily made the same mistakes personally, but He did see them everyday. People came to Him with their mistakes and confusion. So when we feel that feeling in our gut and conscience, feel that discipline love from Him, or conviction in our spirit It’s all because He cares. He doesn’t want us to make mistakes that seem to knock us five steps back. He definitely doesn’t want to see us hurting. He wants the best for us. So like this picture says “May the Lord be with you.” As cheesy or funny as it may sound, take it literal. In any situation serious or not so serious. May the Lord be with you to wake up, get out of bed, and not run late. May the Lord be with you when someone cuts you off while driving. May the Lord be with you when you stub your toe. May the lord be with you when you take a sip of coffee and it burns your tongue because its too hot. May He be with you through thick and thin. May He be with you in every aspect of life, not just sometimes only when its going good or going bad, but all thought your day and week. May the Holy Spirit force be with you.
