Love Like That

"Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that." Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭MSG‬‬

This is one of those occasions where the phrase "Watch then do" comes into play. A prime example that we are to be like Christ. This scripture tells us how to love and gets right to the point. Just like we learn right from wrong from growing up and from the discipline of our parents, God tells us learn how to love by his ways. When we keep in relationship with the Father, we learn a life of love. We learn what life really is and we learn what love truly is. Take notice of how God loves us. He didn't take caution, but He was extravagant. He went all out for us. He went all in. He didn't love us to gain something from us, but to give all that he had and all that he was to us. He loved us so much that he gave everything. Take a look at your life. Look at who you are in relationship with and how you are treating them. Are you truly loving them the way Christ would? Are you loving them how he instructs you to. Sometimes we don't even realize that we aren't giving it our all, that we aren't giving someone our best love we have to offer. Reflect and adjust. Don't expect anything in return or to gain anything by giving someone your love. Don't look at your love as better than. Don't be selfish with your love, be selfless. Give it and give everything you have. That is the only way to truly love in the right way. No fear, no holding back, no selfishness. No matter your past hurts, love in the right way. Love like Jesus loves you— extravagantly. Most importantly mark sure you are being loved that exact way in return. Don't allow yourself to not be loved the way you are suppose to be loved.
