"Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love." Ephesians 4:2
Lately I've been praying for God to fill me with compassion, love, and patience. I think this scripture depicts all three. Three things that I feel I want to grow in or that I feel like I fall short in. I definitely see God placing these things in my heart and spirit. I challenge you in whatever it is you want more of spiritually, whatever it is you want to be better at, whatever you think you need to grow in, whatever you feel yourself struggling in— Go to God with them. You can start off with one or whatever you're feeling. I make it a key point in my prayer time now to pray over these three things. Ask God for it. Whatever it is for you. Then ask Him to allow you to walk in them and exercise them during the day. Everyday is new opportunity to do better and be better. It may seem like small steps, but think of it this way— if you pray that over yourself everyday and then you do it… within time you're a new transformed person and the person you want to be. It's like God is planting a seed inside you and it's growing everyday. You can feel it in your actions and see it in time when you reflect back. God sees your progress even when you think your failing. If you're trying to be better, it's not always going to be easy. You're not always going to overcome your flesh, you are human. But God sees you trying, He sees your heart. It's okay not to be perfect or to even make mistakes. You're growing in this time! Just keep praying for what you want God to change or give you more of in your spirit. Be persistent and you'll see yourself starting to think more before you speak or act. You'll see your human flesh and spirit man change. God gives us what we pray for me. Whether it's compassion, strength, or forgiveness— nothing is too crazy for Him to fix. So take some time and do some soul searching. You know what your strengths are and what your weaknesses are. Be willing to admit them. Claim victory over them. Give them to God. He'll give you compassion. He'll give you strength. He'll give you forgiveness. Talk to Him! If you struggle with using your words you can literally google scriptures on whatever it is. Like for me: compassion, love, and patience. You'll find ones just like the scripture above that relate to you and your situation perfectly. Whatever it is, it's somewhere in the Bible. The Bible gives us scriptures to pray when we don't know what to say ourselves.
Example- "Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love." Ephesians 4:2
Prayer- God I pray that I will always be humble and gentle with my words and actions. That I will have patience with everyone I encounter. I pray that love will consume me so much that anger will never rise up within me. I pray to love
others like you love. I pray that aggravation or irritation will not be a spirit inside of me anymore. I pray for love and patience to replace any thing else that my human flesh tries to stir up.
